UMV Rajepur, Mehsi, East Champaran, Bihar: The official website of Bihar's first government school.
Welcome to the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Science Club at UMS UMV Rajepur! Named in honor of India’s 'Missile Man' and former President, our club is dedicated to sparking curiosity, promoting scientific temper, and inspiring students to explore the fascinating worlds of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
Our club operates on the philosophy of Dr. Kalam: "Science is a beautiful gift to humanity; we should not distort it." Our goal is to move beyond textbook learning by providing hands-on experiences that make science exciting, practical, and accessible.
Hands-on Learning: Emphasis on experiments, projects, and practical demonstrations rather than rote memorization.
Innovation & Problem Solving: Encouraging students to use scientific principles to find creative solutions to everyday problems.
Scientific Temper: Developing a rational, logical, and inquiry-based approach to understanding the world.
Career Inspiration: Exposing students to the vast opportunities available in STEM fields.
We conduct a variety of engaging activities throughout the academic year to keep the scientific spirit alive and active among our students.
Weekly Experiments & Demos: Performing simple, yet impactful experiments in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology using readily available materials.
Example: Understanding chemical reactions by making a baking soda volcano or exploring surface tension with water and pepper.
Science Fairs and Exhibitions: Organizing an annual Science & Innovation Exhibition where students showcase models and projects they have developed.
'Meet the Scientist' Sessions: Inviting local science educators, engineers, or alumni working in STEM fields to interact with students (in-person or virtually).
Science Quizzes & Debates: Hosting competitive events to test knowledge and promote rational discussion on scientific topics like renewable energy or space exploration.
Model Building Workshops: Focused sessions on building working models, such as simple electrical circuits, hydraulic arms, or solar-powered devices.
We are proud of our students who demonstrate exceptional aptitude and creativity.
Additionally, as noted in our Achievement section, we celebrate student Sanskar Raj who was recognized as a Child Scientist in the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Children Award - 2025.
